This picture is only amusing if one knows Daniel, he's not the typical reveler, he's at the Chick-Fil-A Bowl watching UGA win, sending me this photo, telling me they gave him all this free glitter.
My insomnia was finally breaking, after three weeks of little sleep, I was sleeping hard this morning when the phone jangled me up at 6, wrong number on New Year's Day. I coulda slept longer...oh well, gotta blog at both sites.
I'm always a little blue after Lauren and Kevin leave, Lauren's been accepted to William & Mary, childhood ending, and I'm hoping and praying that she'll still have time for us as she grows up. I'm appalled that the years flew like they did, duh it always happens, and this reminds me of Lauren's mom Ellen as she left for William and Mary in 1975.
I had a toddler, Sarah, on my hip at the time, finishing college myself, not having a clue then that I'd eventually dedicate my life to raising children. This was the 70s, anything was possible for women, I wanted a career, not a lifetime of drudgery, which I later found out was my own personal pathway to fulfillment. Go figure.
Sabrina, Mayra, Jose, Javy, Martin, Teresa, Gito and Vanessa all went on an all-nighter with the church youth group, the youth pastor had to use my van also so he'll bring the kids home this morning and I'll allow them to sleep all day, get up and growl at everyone later, but I know they're having a blast.
I watched a movie rental with Edgar and Miriam, glad that neither of them were out driving on New Year's Eve. Carlos, my son-in-law, had brought me tamales from his sister's house, I was in hog heaven.
The weather is still warm, my kids are sweet and loving, I was thinking I was in the wrong house until I heard three wall-shaking thumps from Vanessa's room. Wrapped within her PMS cocoon, she was lashing out at Miriam since I'd told her she needed to clean her room before the all-nighter. Today with both PMS and sleep deprivation I
am expecting a brief Return of Viper Girl.Miriam, afraid of the dark, slept with her lights on all night since Vanessa was gone. Shoot, I'd be more afraid of snake bite this week.
