This breaks your heart. It is nothing new. I tried for years in the 80's to get my 12 year old orphaned interpreter out of Haiti. The corruption and red tape is ungodly. We lost touch eventually and then last year I got a phone call from a man with a French accent..."I am looking for SPPP who was a nurse in Haiti?" It was him! He is in California. 99.9% of the stories do not end this way.
That is completely heartbreaking and infuriating all at the same time.
You know this is what I harp about all the time, all these multiple losses and breaks from caretakers absolutely destroy children. It is unacceptable. It's amazing that you were found again, Secret Pepper Person, and also reassuring in that the person actually survived. Katc71, you said it best.
